S.R.L. Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam was founded in 1986 by F.lli Pascale.
The company’s metal pressing and fabrication plant is located close to the International Airport at Napoli with an 11000 square meters facility. A second larger plant is located in Capua some 20 miles north and features the final assembly line and paint shop with a taxiway to the flight tests airfield.
The Company's interests are divided into two main activities: The first is the construction and assembly of structural components for commercial aviation. Among these components are parts for Douglas and Boeing Agusta, LearJet, Falcon, and Dornier. The Company has obtained ISO 9002 certification by Alenia, Aeronavali, Aermacchi, Agusta and Douglas/Boeing.
Furthermore, the Company is certified by the Registro Aeronautico Italiano (cit. n. 1004/c) for the production of its own Tecnam certified.aircraft since 1992, Tecnam has entered this market internationally with outstanding results. The distribution network of Tecnam aircraft can rely today on dealers in all major countries.
The Company's strategy is particularly dedicated to investing resources in research and development with the aim of continued refinement and upgrading of its products.
Today Tecnam manufacture eleven versions of their light aircraft and produce them all in factory built EASA certified form. In 2001 the factory agreed to produce the Echo high wing derivative in kit form for the UK and in 2004 this was joined by the low wing 2002 Sierra. Both aircraft are offered to the UK market and come with the major aircraft components complete having been built in the same jigs as the certified models. This production method gives the quality that makes Tecnam aircraft stand out from the rest. The customer build consists of adding all the systems that turn the kit into a high quality airplane. The Sierra is now produced in certified form with Retractable undercarriage and the LAA kit version will be available in the UK at the end of 2007.
As the aircraft in UK are certified under the LAA permit to fly scheme, this gives the owner much scope with the personal finish of his aircraft with many extras to enhance the aircraft. Builders must be aware that this is a VLA aircraft and all these extras eat into the useful load the aircraft can carry. One big advantage of the permit system is that it allows owner maintenance with the work being signed off by a LAA inspector. This brings the cost of owning a Tecnam down into the real world where owning an aircraft becomes affordable.
My job at Tecnam UK Ltd is to promote the aircraft in the UK. Those who are seriously interested will soon realize that this is a high quality light aircraft. Having been personally involved in several Sierra builds I am well qualified to give ongoing support and assistance for you to build an aircraft of your choice. Welcome to the “Tecnam” world
